Access & Location

Access from both Tokyo and Karuizawa is convenient by Shinkansen. From Annaka-Haruna Station, a reservation-based free shuttle bus (10-minute ride) operates in sync with Shinkansen schedules. The Shinkansen travel times from major stations are as follows:

  • Tokyo ↔︎Annaka-Haruna: 1 hour

  • Karuizawa ↔︎Annaka-Haruna: 20 minutes

  • Nagano↔︎Annaka-Haruna: 40 minutes

Annaka Area

  • Meganebashi Bridge
    Built in 1892, Meganebashi is one of Japan’s largest brick four-span arch railway bridges and a designated National Important Cultural Property. Surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, it is a popular spot for scenic walks along the historic railway path. 

  • Isobe Onsen
    Renowned as the birthplace of Japan’s official hot spring map symbol (♨). Famous for its soothing mineral waters and traditional Isobe rice crackers.

  • Historic Samurai Residences

Takasaki Area (En Route)

  • Takasaki Byakue Kannon
    A majestic 41.8-meter statue of the Goddess of Mercy perched atop Mount Kannon. Visitors can enter the statue and climb to the top for panoramic views of Gunma’s mountains.

  • Shorinzan Darumaji Temple
    The birthplace of the famous Japanese "Takasaki Daruma doll"—a traditional symbol of good luck and perseverance. A serene Zen temple filled with vibrant culture.
